Remember Chapters 11, 12, 13, 14) * The overall message was in a motivated sequence with the 5 steps, attention, need, satisfaction, visualization, and action. 3) Speakers Role: What kind of relationship has the speaker established with the audience? Does he or she speak from a position of power? As an equal? How does this role established by the speaker influence the speech’s effectiveness * Mrs. Obama creates a more equal relationship rather than being superior to the audience even though she has a great deal of power on her back. She speaks to them from an eye to eye perspective. The way the speaker shows the audience how much they can actually relate, the audience is prone to find favor in their similar situations and is more likely to gain a liking for him. This speech is very effective because the audience can see that President Obama and his wife feels what they feel and they know what’s it like to have issues. They didn’t grow up rich, without experiencing the downfalls of society; they had to climb that ladder of success as normal American’s. ) Speaker’s Tone: What is the overall tone, or â€Å"feel,† of the message? How does the speaker use supporting material and delivery clues to establish an overall tone of speech? * This speech has a tone of hope and equality. After hearing this speech you can’t help but feel hopeful that things will get better. The first lady helps you see that it’s possible to make it. There is hope for every family that wants to s end their children to college just like there is hope for every family who has soldiers serving their country. Not only that, but there is a sense of equality in the speakers tone to help the audience relate to a much further extent. 5) Speakers Techniques: What does the speaker do to establish credibility? Does the speaker use logical arguments, tell effective and interesting stories, use emotional appeals, and use interesting and precise language? * The speaker creates credibility by basically saying she’s been in their footsteps, especially with her father having a disability and with him being a father and sending his children to college even if he did have to take out loans when he fell short. The speaker does use logical arguments, tells effective and interesting stories, use emotional appeals, and use interesting and precise language. The speaker shows her sincerity in everything she says which shows the audience how much passion is behind every word and scenario. 6) Audience: Who is the intended audience? How effectively and appropriate does the speaker connect to the interest, needs and background of the audience? How does the speaker make the connection with the audience? The intended audience is more of the middle class, she states a lot of issues that middle class people go through, even as growing up as a middle class child, and she went through those same issues. She connects with them by being able to say, â€Å"Yes I’ve been there, and Yes I’ve made it through. † 7) What was your favorite aspect of the speech, and why? * My favorite aspect is how she gives the audience that reassurance that even though times may be hard right now that it is not the end. You have to believe in America and hope for the best. No country or President is perfect. We have to have our President’s back and show we that we have faith in him. 8) Why is this activity relevant? What do you learn from watching speeches? * This activity was very relevant because as young adults, we need to be more in tuned with what’s going on in our society. We see how the speaker comes across to America by noticing several points that we’ve discussed in class. We learn what to do to improve as speakers ourselves. Individual Reflective Essay In Management †Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Individual Reflective Essay In Management? Answer: Introducation Self-awareness is one of the most common and significant topic when dealing with emotional intelligence. People find it challenging to clearly explain who they are, or who they perceive themselves to be. I am not an exception either. The way we perceive or identify ourselves might differ slightly or greatly from how other people perceive us hence marketing the aspect of self-awareness to become a dilemma. At that moment we tend to become startled and fail to know who we really are. The Johari Window model comes in handy at such moments as it is a great model for self-awareness, personal development, group development and understanding relationship (Businessballs, 2003). Under the open area of Johari quadrant, I have the ability to understand what others are thinking an I can behave appropriately and sophisticated (Iq-Test, 2017). I am always cheerful and optimistic in life even when I seem to fall into the abyss of despair and I can always get back to my feet and move on quickly. (Iq-Test, 2017) . One of my colleagues identified that about me from the survey they filled, which went hand in hand with what the results that I had also obtained. I also have high logical and mathematical intelligence which makes me fast in solving mathematical problems and providing quick and efficient solutions to problems at hand. In concomitant to that, I have high linguistic, musical, interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligence. When combined, the intelligence types make me competent and a good leader and manager, who deeply understands the people under my leadership. However, it turns out that there are some traits, character, and behavior that I possess but I am not aware. This is perfectly covered in the blind area quadrant which highlights the things that are unknown to a person but known to the others (Self Awareness, 2013). The other EQ test completed by my second colleague indicated that I am pretty cold and rarely concerned with what others think. This trait helps me to make decisions more assertive but sometimes it can upset people even though I dont mean to hurt them (Iq-Test, 2017). This is something I had no glimpse of but my colleague confidently pinpointed it as portrayed in the EQ test results. The hidden area of the quadrant covers what is known to the person that is unknown to others. By comparing all the results obtained after completing the survey, it was crystal clear that my finanacial ability was hidden. Although I am aware of my musical skills and passion for music, this was not the case with my colleagues. It turns out I had hidden this bit of my personality to myself and it was therefore unknown to them. My bodily kinesthetic intelligence falls in the unknown quarter of the quadrant. This quarter covers the area of unknown activity. When it comes to sports, games, dancing and any activity that involves vigorous movements, it is unclear of where my strengths and abilities lie hence making it unknown both to self and others. Having undertaken the intelligence survey, I have been able to identify my areas of weakness as well as my strengths. I am empathetic: this trait plays a major role when it comes to helping others out whenever they need my help. For instance, in school, when someone needs my help with doing any complex sum or understanding a difficult concept, I gladly help. It helps me make a good leader because I understand the people that I lead. Being cheerful and optimistic are the major pillars of my strengths. No matter how dark and dump it seems at the moment, I always assure myself that therell be light and warmth at the end of the tunnel. I always want to try everything over and over again even though I keep failing. I always tell myself that I cannot fail forever. Education and learning was always tough when I first joined school. I could fail in a number of subjects but I never gave up. I felt the urge inside me to change the course of the river. It was a very hard and pressing moment. One step at a time became my slogan and so I decided to begin from the known to the unknown. I believed this would give me the strength as it would assure me that at least I have something that I know, somewhere I can start. I began working on English and literature. As I worked, I began realizing my weaknesses day by day as I continued to learn. It was really tough and at one moment I felt like throwing in the towel but I knew that was never going to be an option. Believe you me, at the end of it all, my optimism made me a victor. Being optimistic made me develop strong linguistic, logical-mathematical and spatial-visual intelligence which are also part of my strengths when it comes to competence at school and in doing any kind of work. It is evident that I have a weakness with my bodily kinesthetic intelligence. I lack enough control over my physical agility and manual dexterity. This is a clear indication that I have not yet stricken an equal balance between leisure and time for work. In as much as I am focused and optimistic with, life, I need to take a break and relax by taking part in activities that engage the body and mind physically. I would like to develop some competencies in order to function well as a global citizen. The most significant one is: improving my interpersonal intelligence to be at the utmost level. This will help me to perceive other peoples feelings, be able to relate with them, interpret their behavior and communication, and understand the relationship between them and their situations. For instance, if I am working in an organization that has people from diverse cultures and I am their leader, it would be pretty hard for me to lead them if I do not understand how they operate. If I do not understand their behavior and communication, and the relationship between them in different situations, then I might turn out to be a bad leader. I may not be able to unite all the people from diverse cultures, hence making the organization recede in growth and in making of profits. If I master the art of interpersonal relationship/communication, then I will definitely be able to unite all the people regardless of their cultural backgrounds. The feedback from the surveys have been a great eye opener to me. I have discovered some of my strengths that I was not aware of and at the same time the weaknesses that I have. I will ensure that I work on my weaknesses, enhance my strengths, and live to see my competencies actualize. For instance, having known that I am pretty cold and rarely concerned about others, I will work my hard to change that aspect of my life. Changing that aspect will enable me to perfectly fit like a jigsaw puzzle in a potential career in a culturally diverse organization Management. References Businessballs, 2003. Johari Window.
